Musical Enrichment Program
The Music Enrichment Program (MEP) is an important part of the Central Texas Philharmonic, fulfilling our commitment to provide classical music for our community.
The primary goal of the MEP is to provide high quality music experiences for students in the Central Texas area. Programs are performed during the school day and are a part of the Fine Art Curriculum of each participating school.
MEP has become an annual event for 4th & 5th grade students at Georgetown High School with students participating from Florence, Jarrell, and other area schools. There are two programs, with approximately 1000 students and teachers per performance at the Georgetown program. Musicians from Central Texas Philharmonic participate and volunteers help with ushering.
Round Rock has an interactive program for all the 4th grade students in the RRISD. Teachers are given the contents and use this as a teaching guide and introduction to the program. The students dress in their “concert wear” and are asked to participate. Narration is by our Music Director, Stefan Sanders and a soloist who assists with the program.
Amazing soloists and ensembles have shared the wonder of music with a generation of students: the first performance by Van Cliburn winner and Georgetown favorite Jan Jiracek, Austin Civic Orchestra, Austin Opera, Elizabeth Pitcairn and her Stradivarius (“Red Violin”), American Chamber Brass, Austin Flute Ensemble, Anderson String Quartet, chamber ensembles from Austin CHAMPS program, Ft. Worth Youth Opera, and ensembles representing strings, woodwinds, brass, percussion and even bagpipes, as well as our Central Texas Philharmonic musicians!
